I love these practical application exercises! More please... The assignment was to prepare a professional map of the top 4 landowners in Gulf County Florida, as a GIS Consultant would. Here are the results:
Here is the "cleaned-up" data for the UWF Campus. Also, the Athletic_fields layer has been created and it is displayed on the revised map. Good exercise, learned alot, but the exercises are extremely time consuming...
We were required to georeference a couple of aerial photos of the UWF Campus. Everything went smoothly, but it would have helped to have a good processor.
The object of this exercise was to compile GIS data for Bay County, Florida. This was the most challenging map exercise yet! Formatting the image files was the biggest problem.
This is a map depicting the variability of acreage calculations when using different geographic projections. The small details took the most time in addition to the network lag. Some layout shortcut tips and templates sure would be nice...
I found this map, ftp://157.150.195.135/Maps/DamageAssessment/PAP_assessmentmap_overview_block.pdf, posted at http://www.un.org/Depts/Cartographic/english/htmain.htm. It depicts all the basic information one would need to begin a survey of the affected areas. I think this is an excellent example of a well designed and formatted map.
The first map depicts Mexico's high and low elevations, second map shows cities within Central Mexico, and the third map illustrates Mexican population densities. This map assignment was fun! I love making maps. Also, I found out that its much quicker to turn off all "nonactive" layers when editing.
